Year 1H
Mrs Hood
Mrs Ashton
Hi there, my name is Mrs Hood and I thought I’d share some things about me. I love to spend time with my family. Our favourite place to be is outdoors. We love the beach, the Pennie Trail but usually you’ll find us in the woods! I love to go shopping and I have a huge collection of books; I have plenty to share with you! I’m really looking forward to teaching you all in September.

What will we be learning about in Year 1?
We are really looking forward to next year and we can’t wait to meet you all. We are excited to start our learning journey with you. Here are some of the things that you can look forward to…

Our first project will be all about The Great Fire of London. We will explore lots of facts about the event and learn all about Samuel Pepys. We hope you are good at baking because we will be baking bread that you can take home to share with your families. We are hoping to visit the National Emergency Services Museum to learn all about the history of fire fighting and how it has changed over the years.

In our next project we will learn all about the UK and our local area. We will explore our school grounds and we will be naming and locating the countries and surrounding seas of the UK. Have you heard about the Locke Ness monster? We can’t wait to read the story ‘Nessie’ during our Literacy sessions. We will also be reading a selection of Paddington Bear stories.

During our final project, we will be transforming into Artists! We will be discovering the Artist ‘Monet’ and recreating his final piece of ‘Waterlilies’. During reading time, we will share an adventure with Katie who visits an Art Gallery. We will be displaying our work in an art exhibition and we will be inviting you all to see our creations and to celebrate our learning.

We hope you are as excited as we are, we wish you a lovely summer holiday and we look forward to seeing you all in September.
